The Gallipoli Scholarship Fund
With support from RSL Sub-Branches, the Department of Veterans Affairs and other Ex-service organisations the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund was established in 1996 as a not-for-profit association with deductible gift recipient status. Its mission is to honour the legacy of Veterans through the granting of tertiary scholarships (University/TAFE) to eligible and deserving descendants of Veterans who have served in any conflict and/or peace operation since the Gallipoli campaign in World War 1.
In honour of our Veterans, the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund makes a difference to the lives of their direct descendants
Who And What Is The Fund For?
The Fund was established through the efforts of a group of Gallipoli Veterans who wanted younger generations to understand the enduring traditions of perseverance, courage, self-sacrifice and mateship. In the memory of these Veterans the Fund continues to inform and remind young Australians of the sacrifices of those who have served Australia and of our national values of democracy, freedom and the rule of law.
The first two Gallipoli Scholars were awarded in 1998 and since then almost 200 Gallipoli Scholars have been conferred. In 2023, the Fund awarded a record number of 35 scholarships, although demand continues to exceed our current financial assets. Each Scholar receives a stipend of $6,000 (paid in two equal tranches subject to successful continuation) to undertake tertiary study at university or TAFE. In addition, a non-academic mentor is assigned to each Scholar to assist them through their studies. Each scholar is also awarded with a Certificate and a meaningful Gallipoli Scholar medallion. The organisation also seeks opportunities to have its Scholars visit the Australian War Memorial and Government House in Canberra.
Eligibility requirements to apply for a Gallipoli Scholarship are outlined on its website: https://gallipolischolarship.com.au/apply/.
The BrandNet Group proudly supports the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund by providing the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund medallion awarded to each scholarship recipient
Here Are Ways To Help
RSL Sub-Branches, Ex-Service organisations, Veterans and their families can continue the Fund’s meaningful work by spreading the word, encouraging eligible young Australians to apply, and by making a tax deductable donation. RSL Sub-Branches in particular may wish to consider providing a Bursary in their name. Reach out to the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund team here.
