The Pick-a-Plane Poll Report Is Here.
Having sold the first 500 of the 1,000 limited-edition sets of the Air Force Centenary Medallions hours after we made them available in early April, we wanted to create our second edition of these must-have collectors’ items with the help of our customers through the Pick-A-Plane Poll.
The task was to choose the top six favourites from a list of iconic and popular RAAF aircraft, with an opportunity to nominate a plane not pre-listed.
KEY POINT: All throughout the survey period, F-111 stayed at the top.
Partial results as of May 27, 2021.
Partial Results June 1, 2021.
On June 8, the Beaufighter overtook the F-35 and the P-51D climbed a few places and became second in the running.

The results from more than 2,000 people who participated in the poll are summarised below:
A total of 2257 respondents.
With the P-51D Mustang and the Kittyhawk, both WW2 fighter aircraft, making it to the top 6, only the first will make it to the new commission. Further, the CAC Sabre, the Australian variant, was chosen over the British-built Beaufighter. This was to broaden the representation of planes over time periods in this new range of limited-edition medallions. However, rest assured that due to the wonderful feedback, we will use the Kittyhawk and the Beaufighter as well as the other planes in the development of new Air Force products in due course.
