The Anzac Centenary is a time to reflect on a century of service and sacrifice by the Australian Infantry. The military traditions of most island nations are heavily centred on their Naval and Air forces. Despite being “Girt by Sea” the infantry forms the core of Australia’s military tradition and national identity.

The Australian Infantryman has been deployed to every major armed conflict over the past century. Gallipoli, Fromelles, Kokoda and Tobruk were battles in which the Australian Infantry did the heavy lifting in terms of fighting and personal sacrifice. Most recently Iraq and Afghanistan have seen infantrymen and women placed on the frontline of global conflict.

The Anzac Centenary is a time to share the stories of the famed Australian Infantry.
