Rising Sun at the Cenotaph of RSL Doncaster Sub-Branch Is Up

After months of hard work and dedication, the RSL Doncaster Sub-Branch's dream of creating a serene and meaningful Remembrance Garden for Veterans and their families has become a reality. It has been a journey filled with passion and purpose, as the community came together to honour and pay tribute to those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

The Remembrance Garden stands as a symbol of gratitude and remembrance, serving as a place of solace and reflection for all who visit.

The centrepiece of the garden is a striking bronze moulded Rising Sun, proudly displaying the words "Australian Military Forces" alongside The ODE wording. This powerful symbol speaks volumes about the bravery and sacrifice of our Veterans, reminding us all of their unwavering commitment to our nation.

The Remembrance Garden is not just a visual tribute; it is a sensory experience that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the stories and memories of our Veterans and their families. Five sound posts are strategically placed throughout the garden, each offering a different audio story from a Veteran or their family. These personal accounts provide a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made and the impact of war on the lives of those who have served and those left behind.

As visitors stroll through the garden, they are greeted by life-size Silhouette Soldiers, standing tall and proud, representing the countless men and women who have served in the armed forces. These powerful figures serve as a reminder of the strength and bravery exhibited by our Veterans, inspiring us to never forget their selfless acts of heroism.

The garden also features beautiful Rosemary plants, a symbol of remembrance and fidelity. These fragrant herbs not only add natural beauty to the space but also serve as a reminder of the everlasting bond between Veterans and their loved ones.

Another enchanting feature of the garden is the Remembrance poppy flame, which illuminates the area at night. This flame serves as a beacon of hope and a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always someone willing to stand beside us and offer support.

The Remembrance Garden is designed to be a place of unity and inclusivity, welcoming not only Veterans and their families but also school groups, sporting teams, clubs, scouts, and anyone who wishes to pay their respects. It provides a picturesque backdrop for group photos, capturing the spirit of camaraderie and the importance of standing together in times of need.
