The Indo Pacific 2025 International Maritime Exposition opened in Sydney on 4 November 2025, marking a record turnout of international naval delegations and defence-industry participants.

Organised by the Royal Australian Navy in collaboration with the AMDA Foundation, the event ranked among the world’s largest maritime expositions, bringing together the Navy’s Sea Power Conference, industry exhibits and strategic discussions under one roof.

Held at the International Convention Centre Sydney in Darling Harbour, the three-day event ran until 6 November. More than 900 defence exhibitors and over 200 naval delegates from more than 50 nations attended, underscoring the growing importance of maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

Vice Admiral Mark Hammond, AO, RAN, said the conference had provided an essential venue for international engagement.

“This year’s conference serves as a critical platform for our Navy to advance dialogue on shared maritime challenges,” he said.

The event’s theme — “Strength at Sea = Security and Prosperity at Home” — shaped discussions on how maritime capability underpins both national and regional stability. Hammond said the theme captured the Navy’s enduring mission.

“The theme of this year’s conference highlights the Royal Australian Navy’s enduring mission—rooted in Australia’s reliance on secure and open access to the sea,” he said.

He emphasised that Australia’s geography and economic ties made naval strength and cooperation indispensable.

“As a three-ocean island trading nation, Australia’s strategic interests span the breadth of the Indo-Pacific and our Navy is imperative to that,” he said.

Hammond added that the current global environment made partnerships more important than ever.

“In today’s complex security environment, it is more critical than ever that we work collaboratively with regional partners to uphold the peace and stability that form the foundation of both Australia’s national security and economic prosperity.”
