The Chief of the Australian Army, Lieutenant General Angus Campbell will be in uncharted territory later this month when he bares his personal and artistic side at the Veteran’s Film Festival in Canberra.

He has directed a hard-hitting film that tackles the issue of domestic violence through the personal and confronting stories of four serving members of the Australian Army who live with or deal with family and domestic violence.

Lt-Gen Campbell’s short film, “Silence is the Accomplice”, was one of more than 250 submissions from around the world vying for a place at this year's festival. Silence will screen on Sunday 22 October.

The film festival is now in its third year and according to Film Festival Director, Tom Papas, will put the spotlight on stories about veterans, their families, first responders and the impact war has on society.

The team at BrandNet in Canberra, which runs Military Shop and online services for Navy, Army and Air Force, will again be supporting the festival by designing and producing the coveted Red Poppy Awards for best animation; best female actor; best male actor; best music, and best young film maker.

The new design for these awards is under wraps until the festival’s final night on Sunday 22 October.

The five day festival, which is also supported by the Returned and Services League of Australia and eth Australian Defence Force, screens at the Australian War Memorial from 18 October 2017.  To find out more about screening times; the films on offer; and to book tickets, visit the Veterans Film Festival online.
