The National Medal is awarded to members of eligible organisations who have completed 15 years of diligent service that involves risk to their personal safety. The Australian Defence Medal (ADM) is awarded to Australian Defence Force personnel who have efficiently completed either an initial enlistment period or four years of service, whichever is the lesser. It recognises the commitment and contribution of ADF personnel, including Reserve members.
