Honouring Veterans Through The Gallipoli Scholarship Fund
Established in 1996, the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund is a not-for-profit association with deductible gift recipient status. With support from RSL Sub-Branches, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and other ex-service organisations, the Fund was created to honour the legacy of Australian veterans by awarding tertiary scholarships (University or TAFE) to eligible and deserving descendants of those who have served in any conflict or peacekeeping operation since the Gallipoli campaign in World War I.
The Fund is more than a financial grant—it is a commitment to values like perseverance, courage, self-sacrifice, and mateship. These qualities are exemplified in scholars like Isabella Rosewarne, whose journey reflects the transformative impact of this support.
A Scholar’s Story: Isabella Rosewarne
Isabella’s story is one of dedication, resilience, and service.
“My experience as a Gallipoli Scholar has been nothing short of incredible. The organisation has provided me with invaluable support, financial security, and opportunities that have allowed me to thrive both personally and academically,” she shares.
A first-year Bachelor of Physiotherapy student at the Australian Catholic University, Isabella is also an elite athlete and an active community contributor. The Gallipoli Scholarship Fund has enabled her to pursue her education and passions with confidence and purpose.
“Their belief in my potential has been deeply uplifting. It’s helped me stay focused on my studies, continue competing in sport, and stay dedicated to community service. I’ve earned the King Scout Award, the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, and the Lifesaving Gold Medallion—all of which recognise my commitment across different areas of life.”
Beyond the financial support, Isabella describes the Gallipoli Scholarship experience as one that connects scholars to a larger legacy.
“Meeting fellow scholars, visiting the Australian War Memorial and Government House, and hearing the stories of those who came before us—it was truly moving. I felt more connected than ever to my family’s service heritage.”
Inspired by this journey, Isabella made a life-changing decision upon returning to Victoria.
“I enlisted in the Australian Defence Force—a decision that aligns with my values and my commitment to serve. I’m now more determined than ever to become the most capable and compassionate physiotherapist I can be, while also contributing to defence.”
“I feel privileged and proud to be a Gallipoli Scholar. Thank you to Earlwood-Bardwell Park RSL for your generosity—I will be forever grateful.”
Creating a Legacy Through Support
Isabella’s story is just one example of how the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund helps shape the future of young Australians. Through its partnerships and donor support, the Fund continues to empower the next generation of leaders—those who carry the values of service and sacrifice into every path they take.
