This commendable medal group includes the Australian Operational Service Medal Border Protection (AOSM BP), the National Emergency Medal with the Bushfires clasp, and the Australian Defence Medal (ADM), all meticulously court mounted for wear.

The Australian Operational Service Medal Border Protection (AOSM BP) is presented to Australian Defence Force personnel and certain civilians for their involvement in border protection operations. This award emphasises the significant roles individuals play in safeguarding Australia's territorial integrity and maritime borders, often under challenging conditions.

The National Emergency Medal is a singular Australian decoration designed to recognise significant service during specific national emergencies. The Bushfires clasp is affixed to the medal to acknowledge those who have served during severe bushfire events that have profoundly impacted Australian communities. Whether part of organised services or volunteering individually, the recipients of this clasp have made noteworthy contributions to combating these disasters.

The Australian Defence Medal (ADM) is awarded to members of the Australian Defence Force who have completed either an initial enlistment period or four years of service, whichever is shorter. It serves to honour the commitment and enduring contributions of both regular and Reserve members of the ADF.

Taken together, these medals honour a diverse range of service commitments, from participating in border protection and responding to national emergencies like bushfires, to long-term service in the Australian Defence Force. They stand as a lasting tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of our service men and women.

Unmounted Medals

If you order your medal unmounted, the medal and ribbon will be supplied as separate components. Miniature medals will be supplied with 15cm of ribbon and full size medals will be supplied with 30cm of ribbon.

AOSM Border Protection + National Emergency Medal (Bushfires) + ADM Full Size Court Mounted

The court mounting of medals involves securing medals to a stiff backing board, along with the placement of a brooch fitting on the board. This ensures that the medals remain firmly in place and do not shift or move about while being worn.

It is mandatory for active members of the Australian Defence Force to have their medals court mounted, as it is considered the appropriate method of presenting military honours in a professional and respectful manner. By doing so, the medals are given proper recognition and are displayed in a neat and organized fashion.

AOSM Border Protection + National Emergency Medal (Bushfires) + ADM Full Size Swing Mounted

The swing mounting of medals refers to the attachment of a medal to a ribbon that is allowed to hang freely from a brooch, which in turn is affixed to a uniform or clothing. This mounting style was commonly used for medals from the Boer War up to and including World War II, although there are no fixed guidelines or regulations regarding its use.
