Q.   What was the standard weapon used by the Anzacs?
A.   Australian and New Zealand soldiers were issued with the Mark III .303 Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) rifle. This rifle, which featured a 10-round magazine, was introduced into service in 1907 and would serve the Australian Army until the late 1950s.
