My father in law was very proud to receive them. He was a merchant seaman during the war, delivering stores in small ships to the fighting men in New Guinea and the other islands of the Pacific Islands. He has never received any recognition for his service. After extensive investigations on our part, we found out that he was entitled to these medals.. We could and probably will, apply to the Australian Archives for his proper medals, but this an take months, or even years. He is 98 years old and not in the best of health. This way he, hopefully, can wear his medals at the next ANZAC day.
